Letters, Diaries and Scrapbooks

Next week is Book Week Scotland and we have a special event to start the week off. Novelist Eleanor Thom will join us in our Research Room on Monday 25th November 2-4pm to read and discuss her work, including bestseller The Tin Kin, and explore some of the letters, diaries and scrapbooks in our archives. Tickets are £5 and can be booked by calling .

Participants will be able look at some of the rarely-seen items in our collections, for example letters from the First World War, 19th century family letters, diaries and scrapbooks of local writers, and the writing albums of the daughters of Thomas Kennedy (of Glenfield and Kennedy). One entry, contributed by a friend in November 1895, reads:

“In this book of sky blue pages,
You ask me to pen a line,
Yet tell me in the coming ages,
Will it not be lost in time?”

Places are limited!
